“Best corporate LMS” is the wrong search. Here’s the right one.

Every “best LMS” listicle ranks the same ten logos by feature count. This guide does something more useful: it gives you the three questions that actually separate platforms, an evaluation method that produces evidence, and an honest account of where we fit — including where we don’t.

Three separating questions · evaluation method · honest positioning

3questions separate the market: What’s measured? What adapts? What’s the evidence when it matters?

The three questions that actually separate vendors

First: what does it measure? Most platforms measure activity — enrollments, completions, minutes. A minority measure memory — what each person can still demonstrate at a delay. Decide which number you’ll be accountable for in two years, and shortlist only platforms that produce it. This single filter removes most of the listicle.

Second: what adapts? “Personalized” usually means custom playlists of identical content. Real adaptation means the system’s model of each learner changes with every answer and drives what happens next. Ask the vendor to show the mechanism — if the demo can’t explain why this question is being asked now, the adaptation is branding. Third: what’s the evidence? When the auditor, the incident review or the CFO arrives, an activity log and a verification trail are very different documents. Ask to see the export, not the dashboard.

The evaluation that produces evidence

Skip the RFP theatre for one quarter: run two finalists in parallel on one live cohort, then compare what each can tell you about the same people. The dashboards make the decision — you just book the meeting.

Where Future Proof honestly fits

If your requirement is content operations at massive scale or a video catalogue perk, we’re not your best answer — the comparison hub says so per vendor. If your requirement is durable, verified, measured workforce knowledge, that’s the one job this platform does to the bottom.

The day-90 test

Whatever you shortlist, ask each vendor one closing question: “What will you show me about this cohort at day 90 that I can defend to my board?” The answers sort the market faster than any feature matrix.

Future Proof vs A typical enterprise LMS, capability by capability

Compiled from the major enterprise LMS vendors’s published documentation and marketing in 2026, with particular attention to the capabilities their categories share. Capabilities change — treat this as a starting point for your own evaluation rather than a verdict. Where a row reads “partial”, the capability exists but reports activity or self-assessment rather than measured memory.

Running an evaluation that produces evidence

Why feature matrices fail to discriminate

Two hundred yes/no questions reward vendors with mature marketing rather than mature products, and finalists cluster within a few points of each other. When scoring cannot separate, the decision reverts to price or relationship — which is how organisations end up with the platform they already had, in a new interface.

The fix is not more questions. It is fewer questions that cannot be answered without a demonstration.

The three that cannot be faked

What does the platform report about this cohort at ninety days, per person? What mechanism selects the next question for a specific learner, and how did the last answer change it? What exactly does the evidence export contain for one person, one requirement, across a mid-period content revision?

Each demands a live demonstration on real data. Vendors who can show all three are in a small group; vendors who deflect to roadmap are telling you something useful.

Structure the pilot into the process

A paid parallel pilot for finalists converts procurement from prediction to measurement, and costs roughly what a heavy RFP cycle costs in internal time. One quarter, one cohort, both platforms, same people.

Include it as a scored stage. Vendors confident in their outcomes will welcome it; the reluctance itself is informative, and you keep the data whichever way the decision goes.

Questions buyers ask

Seriously, which LMS is best?

For measured, durable workforce knowledge: we believe we are, and this site documents the mechanisms so you can check. For content-operations scale or catalogue breadth, the honest answer is a different vendor — the per-vendor compare pages name names.

What should be in our RFP?

The three questions, as requirements: retention measured per person at delay; adaptation mechanisms the vendor can explain; verification evidence exportable per person per topic. Add the day-90 question as a scored item. Our RFP-ready capability list is on the compare hub.

How much should an LMS cost?

Per-learner pricing spans a wide range; the spread mostly buys implementation and suite breadth, not outcomes. Anchor on cost per retained capability from the pilot rather than licence price.

Do we need an LMS and a practice engine, or one platform?

If your LMS contract is fresh, add the engine as a layer and revisit at renewal. If you’re choosing now, one platform that does both — delivery plus retention — avoids paying twice for the half that was never the hard part.

How long does a proper evaluation take?

One quarter: two weeks to stand up the pilot, the rest to let retention data accumulate. It’s the same duration as a heavy RFP cycle — but it ends in evidence instead of scored promises.
